We’ve had the most amazing day today. Luca is really regaining his cognitive ability and its clearly making him so happy. He had an idea to make quite a complicated football game out of a cardboard box, disposable chopsticks, 2 dolls and lots of tape! He had the energy to think it through, to listen to suggestions and to work in part by himself. He also had the energy and drive to thrash me at the games of football we played with it!
Afterwards he happily went off to watch some television and he didn’t emerge until an hour and a half later but then he sat and read his encyclopedia out loud to me for about an hour!
Before Luca went to be tonight he said “I have an idea in my head” so beginning to understand just what an active brain Luca has I said “Why don’t you save that idea for tomorrow.” !!
What a journey this has been 8 months ago Luca was like a forlorn little waif and now he is becoming so strong and resilient, self aware and self knowing.
We started by helping Luca to embrace his senses as his sensitivities were worrying him. We moved on to buying the best construction toys we could find because he clearly had so much creative energy. We helped him work with his feelings and come to terms with being very intuitive and deep feeling. We are now letting him spread his wings and explore the world in his own intelligent and enquiring sort of way.
Surely that is enough. He has such a growing sense of self. I don’t think the fatigue will be a problem much longer. I think our problem will be trying to keep up with our son!
